goodbye Coral Cottage

Goodbye, Coral Cottage.

Hello something something cottage…

We are going green and blue.

All summer I’ve had paint samples taped to various parts of the house.  I studied those samples at different times of the day and on sunny days and cloudy days, ’cause you know how paint can change in different light.  After a few weeks, I had pretty much narrowed my choice down.  I wanted colors that had a light breezy coastal vibe but didn’t scream beach house.  We have lived with and loved the coral, purple and yellow paint on the cottage for many years now.  However, with the new red roof those colors did not work.  And it was time for a change.  Besides, the new colors complement our peacocks – oh yes that’s important.

Mr. Cottage paints a large enough sample so we can really get a feel for these new colors.

It is such a big change.

Mr. Cottage and I took to the new look immediately. I think we tried to talk ourselves out of it, for whatever reason. It is scary making so many life changes, even paint choices are a big deal.  Hopefully, in the next few weeks, the professional painters will take over and do this big job for us.

Are you making any major changes to your home or life?

Thank you for being here today.

  1. Oh, that IS a big change! I can’t wait to see how it turns out. So much lighter and brighter….looks like spring! And I agree….color coordinating with the peacock is so important! LOL

  2. I always liked the coral cottage, but that green is my favorite color ever! The house will be fantastic. And, matching the peacocks is very important!

    1. Hi Lisa – yes, we want to keep those peacocks happy! I like the green too, and getting used to the idea of change, even when it is good sometimes is hard. I can’t wait for the whole house to be painted. xo kim

    1. Good grief we don’t want anything that clashes with the peacocks – they are rowdy enough as is! This green is a complete change and I’m ok with that. xo k

  3. Yes-you made a good choice for colors….I’m sure you’ve polled the hens and other critters. Nothing like a voting year!! We had 6 peahens visiting my geese this week…from the goat neighbors. They just wandered down. My geese were NOT impressed. I had to call the people to come and herd them back home. I don’t think they understood that I was concerned about my geese being scared. The man said to me, “Well, they won’t HURT you!” I knew that. So I guess if they visit again, I’ll just go out and sit with my geese and see if I can calm them down….:)

For an answer to your question: it seems like I am doing more people things than normal instead of being home….for me that’s a big stretch. I am a home-body…

    1. Thank you for asking about the name change, I’ve been pondering this for over a year. Nothing seems quite right and if I keep blogging and make a name change then that opens another can of worms. I like your suggestions and appreciate that you picked up on what the cottage should be callled. You never miss a thing. xo k
